"On my way to L.A."

One place that I would love to visit and hopefully live one day is Los Angeles.  I have always wanted to go to California.  It would be an exciting experience to be in a city full of celebrities and rock bands.  Even though L.A. is considered the rudest city in the United States, but I would will still love to go there anyway.  The weather mostly sunny and warm.  Some places that I would love to visit would be Disneyland, a Hollywood studio, and explore a recording studio.  Although some parts of the city may not be the safest places to be, there is still much talent and art to discover.  One thing I think that would be great to do is go to an art museum or see a rock band at the House of Blues.  The way I would get to L.A. is by plane.  I would want my whole family to come with me and share a trip together.  The best time for a trip across the country would be late in the summer, preferably August because my family and I are so involved with sports, summer  just flies away! (My title was a quote from the song 'Tennessee Line' by Daughtry.)

All About Jon Krakauer

Jon Krakauer was born on April 12,  1954 in Massachusetts.  He started mountain climbing at the age of eight.  He is famous for writing many stories about adventures in the wilderness.  He has had a few encounters with nature as well.  After graduation college in 1977 he had spent a few weeks alone on the Alaskan wilderness.  One thing that he is most known for is his climb on Mt. Everest.  Krakauer and his men were caught in a blizzard but managed to reach the top.  About seven men died on the expedition due to the blizzard conditions.  He is now a full-time writer.

Introduction to Into the Wild

Our English class will soon be reading the novel Into the Wild.  It is a story about Chris McCandless who had graduated college and left his friends and family to hitchhike into the Alaskan wilderness.  He had survived for about 119 days surviving on roots, berries, ten pounds of rice, and game, particularly moose.  Chris McCandless had brought a book with him about edible plants to eat in the wilderness.  During his adventure, McCandless had written in a journal.  According to Wikipedia, the story opens with his body found in an abandoned bus by a group of moose hunters.  His original plan was to hike the Alaskan coast, but his plans had been set back after one fatal mistake.  I can't wait to start reading this story because I love reading adventure books.
